Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced a seven-day national mourning throughout the country in response to a massive pre-dawn earthquake that struck the country’s southern region, which killed more than 4000 people from Turkey as well as Syria.
India has sent the first shipment of earthquake relief materials to Turkey on board the Indian Air Force aircraft, reported MEA in a statement on Tuesday. The magnitude of the earthquake is the biggest ever to strike Turkey in the past 100 years, news agency AFP announced. In Turkey the entire area of cities that are populated with Syrian refugee populations have now been completely wiped out. The earthquake struck close to Gaziantep which is which is a Turkish city with a total population of 2 million. Over 40 aftershocks were occurred and were felt throughout Egypt in addition to Cyprus.
