What The Party Thought of London Dairy: A Review

Many of the people who attended the event hadn’t ever heard of London Dairy. They assumed that it was an imported Ice cream similar to Haagen Dazs (which I’ve recently learned was an American brand that tried to appear Dutch). In contrast to Haagen Dazs it isn’t prohibitively costly (it’s only half the cost) and comes with better packaging.

The consistency and texture that the cream are amazing. It’s as good as any other Ice cream available, or superior.

The flavors of some flavors of London Dairy ice creams are fantastic. Natural strawberry is made with real strawberry chunks and is the perfect mix of sweet and tart. It’s not overly pink, either (less artificial colors than your typical Mother Dairy / Nandini ice creams).

London Dairy’s Double Chocolate was a disappointment for a lot consumers. It is double chocolate due to the fact that it’s chocolate ice cream that has dark chocolate flakes. The frozen ice cream is rough and the flake of chocolate only accentuated the roughness. The ice cream base didn’t contain the richness of real chocolate that a lover like me would like.

The most memorable that night was the London Dairy’s Tiramisu flavor. I loved it and so did the majority people who attended. It didn’t have a strong coffee flavor, but was a mix of cake, chocolate and coffee. The cakes were absolutely delicious soft, chocolaty, delicious. It’s a great flavor for chocolate fans, but perhaps not for the most ardent coffee lovers.

I haven’t had the chance to try the other flavors (the Pralines and Cream sounds intriguing to me, I’m but I’m not keen on their Mango however!) but do share your reviews below. The options seem a bit restricted to me, but when you’re a chocolate lover What else can you do?

The Little Red Dot of Non-Vegetarianism

One thing we didn’t realize until late was that Tiramisu was in fact an ice cream that was not vegetarian. It was the only red dot on the box likely because the Tiramisu cake contained eggs inside it. Hmm. This isn’t a major issue for me, but like Baskin Robbins, one needs be aware that not every London Dairy ice creams are vegetarian.

London Dairy Ice-Cream vs Other Brands

We are indeed addicts to ice cream. One of our current favourite brands include Baskin Robbins (love their Mississipi Mudslide Wow!) as well as Hokey Pokey (Mr T loves their sweet French vanilla, and I love the Manic Monkey flavour). London Dairy is as good as Hokey Pokey in flavor and texture, and is slightly lower than Baskin Robbins in the ingenuity of their flavors.

London Dairy Ice-Cream Price

The 500 ml tubs of London Dairy Ice Cream cost the sum of 325 rupees. This is more expensive than Hokey Pokey Ice Cream (Rs 250 for 500 ml) and is much more costly over Baskin Robbins (Rs 269).

I’m not sure if i can justify this price differential by the flavor alone.
