The Increasing Burden Of Traffic Is Spoiling The Skin Of Children

The increasing traffic of cities has become a cause of trouble for those traveling on the roads. On the other hand, people are at risk of respiratory diseases due to the pollution caused by it. But, now in a study done in America, it has been found that the increasing traffic is also proving dangerous for the skin of children.

In the study, the researchers found that due to the increasing traffic, the children have started facing many problems including shrinking of the skin. This disease can be atopic dermatitis or eczema. Actually, many types of gases spread due to traffic, due to which the level of pollution has increased so much that children are getting asthma along with skin problems.

For the study, researchers used national health data from 2088 to 2021 for the county of Denver. In this, patients up to 18 years of age suffering from skin diseases were reviewed.

Michael Navid, the author of the study, told that a liquid keeps dripping from the skin of children with atopic dermatitis. They may be allergic to exposure to environmental hazards.

This is atopic dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis or eczema usually occurs only in children. This can lead to many other allergic reactions. It is also called atopic march. Atopic dermatitis is a long lasting disease. Asthma and fever can also occur during this time. About 10 million children in America are suffering from this disease.

Staying away from the highway increases the risk of disease

The study researchers did not disclose that highway and local road traffic data were obtained from the Colorado Department of Transportation. Children in areas of Denver were more prone to skin diseases, a review of streets with an annual average daily traffic of more than ten thousand vehicles found that children living farther from highways were at higher risk of infection. He told that there was a danger of atopic dermatitis in children living at a distance of one thousand meters from the highways. While the risk of this was very high in children living at a distance of 500 meters from the highway.

Pollution responsible for 9 million deaths in the world

It has also been said in the study that air pollution is spreading the most due to traffic. 27 percent of the pollution in the world is being caused by the smoke coming out of the vehicles. In 2019, pollution was responsible for the death of about 9 million people in the world. Of these, 66.7 lakh deaths were due to air pollution. Wherein, 16.7 lakh people died in India this year due to air pollution.
