Ram Manohar Lohia is the Gandhian with a world-view having studied in Humboldt University in Germany, who carried Gandhi’s ideal of equality for all genders into India that was post 1950’s. He was the mentor of Mulayam Singh Yadav as well as others who helped bring tribes, low castes and women Muslims and other groups into mainstream Indian society during the 1990’s and later. He also started the first political opposition in India which gave Indian democratic principles a strong foundation. The Prime Minister, Mr. Modi has in his own manner incorporated ideas from his predecessors, Mr. Lohia and Mulayam Singh Yadav, as he tries to modernize a country of 1.2 billion people and bring clean India and water via Har Ghar Jal, and electricity and cooking gas, as well as online banking, agricultural assistance as well as food rations in covid and the construction of infrastructure for hundreds of thousands of individuals.
