Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot praises Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday heaped praise on Congress veteran and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot while addressing an occasion in Banswara where he spoke about his tenure when he was Gujarat chief minister , and the way they had worked together in the past, without any disagreement. Modi also praised Gehlot for being “one of the senior-most Chief Ministers in the country and an experienced politician.”

“Ashok JI (Gehlot) and I been working together as CMs. He was among the top in our group of CMs. Ashok Ji is still one of the oldest CMs of the ones who are on the stage today,” PM Narendra Modi spoke to the crowd of Mangarh Dham ki Gaurav Gatha located situated in Banswara, Rajasthan.

In his address during his speech, PM Modi was also disappointed that the sacrifice and struggle of tribal communities weren’t given their proper place in history following Independence. “Today we are correcting this decades-old error. The past, present and future cannot be complete without the tribesman communities,” the PM said in Banswara. “Every step of our freedom struggle, pages of history are filled with tribal valour,” the Prime Minister added.

In response to his speech Gehlot declared that PM Modi is admired by the world because he is the president of a nation in which democracy is deeply rooted.

Gehlot claimed that when the PM Narendra Modi goes abroad he is honoured. Because he is the Prime Minister for the people of Gandhi where democracy is deeply rooted. “When the world is aware of that, they are happy that the PM of that nation is being a blessing to the country. …” Gehlot declared during the ceremony “Mangarh Dham ki Gaurav Gatha,” which recalled the 1913 Mangarh massacre.

The Prime Secretary Narendra Modi earlier Tuesday shared the stage along with former Congress leader Gehlot during the ceremony. Modi also declared Mangarh Dham located in the Banswara district in Rajasthan in the country as a national landmark. It was in this area that British forces on November 17th, 1913 – shot down over 1,500 members belonging to the Bhil tribe.

CMs from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bhupendra Patel were also on the podium. Being the Chief Minister for Gujarat the Prime Minister spoke of serving his region Mangarh that is actually part of Gujarat and also informed the audience that Govind Guru lived the final few decades of his career in this region as his enthusiasm and knowledge is still evident through the earth of the region.

The Prime Minister recalled that the entire region that was barren earlier became green when he appealed to everyone on the Van Mahotsav platform. He thanked the tribal people for their selfless work in the cause.

In remembrance of the massacre that occurred on 17 November 1913 in Mangarh the Prime Minister noted that it was an instance of brutality by British rulers in India. “On one hand we had the innocent tribals who were seeking independence while on the other hand, it was the British colonial rulers who after surrounding the hills of Mangarh, massacred more than one thousand five hundred innocent men, women, elderly, and children in broad daylight,” Prime Minister Modi declared.
