Indonesian Navy Deploys 400 Soldiers To Help Earthquake Victims!

The Indonesian navy has dispatched 400 marine troops to help in the search for and evacuation for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Indonesia’s West Java province, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono told reporters on Tuesday.

“This day, in the early morning hours we dispatched 400 mariners to assist in the evacuation and search in search of victims of the earthquake. victim,” Margono was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying.

Margono stated that the soldiers will assist in restoring the damaged infrastructure and facilities caused from the earthquake which included roads and communication networks.

“I believe that the mariners who are deployed will assist in searching for the victims, and evacuation, and also aid in the reconstruction of infrastructure and facilities that are damaged.

We will collaborate together with Cianjur’s regional disaster relief agency as well as other agencies within Cianjur,” Margono added.

Marines are expected to be in the area for the next 1 or 2 weeks, since an emergency situation remains in place on the earthquake location.

More than 160 people are believed to have been killed and dozens injured due to the consequence due to the 5.6 magnitude earthquake that struck West Java Province on the morning of Monday. It was an earthquake took place about 75km (45 miles) to the southeast of the nation’s capital city, Jakarta.
