Following the death of guitarist Gary Rossington on Sunday, a country music awards ceremony will be held to honor Jacksonville rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd. “CMT Music Awards” airs from 8-11 p.m. A wide assortment of performers are set to perform 2 Skynyrd music tracks during CBS Sunday. Country vocalist Cody Johnson and former Bad Co. singer Paul Rodgers will share vocals with guitarists Slash from Guns ‘n”Roses, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Warren Haynes of Gov’t Mule, and keyboardist Chuck Leavell, who played in The Allman Brothers Band and the Rolling Stones, and “Honkette” singers LeAnn Rimes and Wynona Judd.

According to a press release the it was reported that singer Johnny Van Zant, guitarist Rickey Medlocke, as well as musician Dale Krantz Rossington would attend but would not be performing. “A pair of timeless Lynyrd Skynyrd hits” are mentioned in the press release.
