Remember HQ Trivia? It didn’t end so well.
TikTok seems to be hoping for better results. The platform will host five days of interactive, live, interactive HQ Trivia-esque events starting February 22nd with a prize pool totaling $500,000.
The entire thing, TikTokTrivia will be hosted and streamed by TikTok @TikTok. It is sponsored by Lionsgate, and the upcoming film John WICK: Chapter 4.
Henry stated that trivia and game shows have been part of popular culture for many years and that he was thrilled to be able to collaborate with TikTok in order to bring this entertaining entertainment format to TikTok LIVE. “TikTok trivia has the power of bringing people together, creating an electrifying environment filled with excitement as well as a sense of community.”
Any U.S.-based user over 18 years old can sign up for TikTok Trivia. Users from the US should now see a signup widget in their For You feed. Or they can search #TikTokTrivia.
February 22, 23 and 24, will feature two sessions of trivia per day, one at 8 p.m. Eastern and one at 9 p.m. Eastern.
TikTok claims that each session will include multiple rounds of multiple-choice trivia. The platform states that there will be many quiz categories, ranging from lifestyle and sports to music or beauty (and yes…John Wick).
TikTok explains that the “survival rounds” will be held on the last two days of TikTok Trivia. “There is no limit to how many questions there are, and the difficulty will keep increasing with each group splitting a $100K prize pot,” TikTok states.
Although this is TikTok’s first livestreamed trivia event it is far from the first attempt to get more people to tune in to live content .
